Barracuda in Cave Entrance - Photo Print
Underwater photograph taken while snorkeling through an incredible cave system named "The Thunderball Grotto" in the Bahamas (More on its name below). One of the exits out the other side of the cave was blocked by this huge Barracuda. While patrolling the area this Barracuda seemed to pose to make a perfect silhouette of itself for us in the light of the cave exit tunnel.
This Cave system in the Bahamas is located in the beautiful island chain of the Exumas, a specific sting of islands within the Bahamas. And this cave was made famous in one of the early James Bond Movies called "Thunderball" in 1965 staring Sean Connery as James Bond. In this movie Sean Connery is lifted through the top opening in the cave via a helicopter. They filmed most of the movie in the Bahamas and because this cave system was used in the movie Thunderball this cave complex became known as the "Thunderball Grotto". If you visit the Bahamas and go to the Exuma islands and go to an island called Staniel Cay you can also snorkel through this cave system. Its best to snorkel here during low tide to make getting in and out of the cave easier. I'd also recommend to do it at slack tide when the water isn't moving. As the water can flow through this cave very fast making it hard to swim during an incoming or outgoing tide.
